Race Details

The Basics:

  • solo competitors and teams of 2 or 4 only
  • teams can be co-ed,same sex, mixed ages, etc. etc.
  • 2 race courses (you pick one) involving hiking, mountain biking and paddling legs
  • "paddling" will occur in canoes (solos may paddle any form of non-motorized floatworthy craft they choose), "mountain biking" means you will need an off-road bike (suspension optional), "hiking" means "trail running" only if you want it to!
  • race routes are top secret - you find out where you're going just before the race starts!
  • teams complete each of the race legs as a team
(i.e. it is NOT a relay!)
  • race rules will be limited, however - it is mandatory that teams stay together on the course. The penalty for breaking this rule will be disqualification
  • most of the Trek course, and all of the Hike course will be marked
  • "mystery tests" will vary between courses, but none will require any specialized skills

How it Works:

  • once full payment is received, a confirmation package will be sent with all the details on what to bring, where to be, and when to be there
  • racers will be entirely self-sufficient - no "support crews" will be necessary
  • racers will be required to carry some mandatory gear items (details will be provided in your confirmation package), but otherwise, all you'll need is a boat, an off-road bike, and a pack full of energy bars and you're ready to race!
  • bike and boat rentals will be availabe on a limited basis - call the race hotline for details

What you Need:

  • equipment requirements may vary somewhat between race divisions, therefore the appropriate "needs" list for your team will be sent with your confirmation package
  • please note that water WILL NOT be provided on the course
  • basic "needs" for all racers include a helmet, good trail shoes, suitable clothing, enough water to sustain you for the duration of the race, and lots of snacks!

What you Get:

  • race pinnie
  • race package full of goodies
  • post-race food tent at the Finish Line
  • many chances to win a whole whack of great prizes!
