Tis the Season
Friday, December 26th, 2008Well December came too quickly and it is hard to believe only a few days until a new year begins. My intentions coming into the month of December for training were sound. Alternate between the bike trainer and the odd long distance run. Unfortunately, several distractions kept me off of the trainer until the 19th of December. Writing report cards, parent interviews, preparing for the school Christmas concert, my daughters Christmas dance recital, and my car finally giving up the ghost after 357,000 km’s.
December is a stress filled month for everyone. Last December I looked forward to my evening workouts again completed after the evening bath, snacks, and books with the kids. But this December I really had to just sleep…….
So with the Christmas holidays I have found new energy and have refocused back onto the trainer and out onto the roads. I am really working on the cadence of my bike sessions and doing alot of gear playing to gauge how much of my fitness has carried over from the summer/fall season.
I am usually spending an hour in the saddle at a time and it is quality that I am focussing on.
A couple of days to finalize my plans for racing next spring/summer and then gear up for a fun winter of training.
